COMPUTER CRIMES

Definition : a criminal act in which a computer is essential to commit the crime.



  • FRAUD: Trying to trick someone in order to gain advantage.

  • COPYRIGHT INFRNGEMENT: Unauthorized use of copyrighted material: Violates the copyright owner's exclusive rights.

  • THEFT: Wrongful taking of someone else's property person willful consent.
Example: Hardware Theft,Software Theft,Information Theft.


  • ATTACK: Internet and network that jeopardise security include;
*Computer viruses,Worms,Trojan horses,Denial of services attack, Spoofing.


  • VIRUS: A piece of code that insert itself into a host (program) to propagate. It cannot run independently.
Example:Melissa,Tiny,Sircam,Tequila.

  • VIRUS: The most common way of getting a virus these days is to open an email attachment.
Example:Floppy disk,Memory stick,CD-ROM,DVD
